For Sale - Marcel Lassance 1990s Herringbone Wool Belted Coat. Valentino Couture 1980s Belted Double Breasted Trench Coat. A beautifully dramatic piece of 1980s Italian outerwear, cut in a muted sage/olive green with the exaggerated proportions and elegant construction associated with the era. The coat features an oversized double breasted front, broad sweeping lapels and a generously cut silhouette that can be completely transformed with the matching waist belt, creating a strong, sculptural shape through the shoulders before cinching neatly at the waist.

One of the standout details is the convertible collar, which can be worn open in the traditional trench style or fastened high around the neck for a much cleaner, almost military-inspired silhouette. Finished with large brown buttons, adjustable belted cuffs, deep angled pockets and an exceptionally long cut, the coat has a beautiful fluidity and volume when worn. The slightly lustrous fabric gives the olive tone extra depth and makes the folds of the coat particularly striking.

A quintessential piece of 1980s Valentino Couture, balancing classic trench-coat detailing with the oversized, expressive tailoring of the decade. Rare to find in such a distinctive colour and with this level of versatility, it can be styled traditionally over tailoring or worn fully fastened for a far more architectural look.

WHY SHOP VINTAGE

EXCEPTIONAL VALUE

Many of the suits and tailoring we source originally retailed for thousands. Vintage gives you access to exceptional designer construction, fabrics and craftsmanship at a fraction of the original price.

QUALITY THAT’S HARD TO FIND TODAY

Older tailoring was often made to a higher standard, with better fabrics, more considered construction and greater attention to finishing. These are garments built before cost-cutting became the norm.

SUPERIOR FABRICS

From luxurious virgin wool and cashmere blends to substantial gabardines and fine worsteds, vintage tailoring often uses fabrics with a weight, texture and handle rarely found at comparable prices today.

THE DRAPE

Great tailoring isn’t meant to cling to the body. The weight and construction of vintage suits allow the fabric to fall naturally, creating cleaner lines, stronger silhouettes and an effortless drape.

A BETTER INVESTMENT

Well-chosen vintage designer tailoring tends to retain its value far better than newly purchased contemporary clothing. Buy intelligently, care for it properly, and a great suit can remain desirable for years.

ICONIC DESIGNERS, BETTER ERAS

Vintage gives you access to defining periods from houses such as Giorgio Armani, Valentino, Yves Saint Laurent and Hugo Boss, often from eras when their tailoring established the visual language they’re still known for today.
