For Sale - Hugo Boss 1980s Oversized Leather Aviator Bomber Jacket. An exceptional piece of 1980s outerwear, cut from substantial dark chocolate brown leather that has developed a beautifully rich, naturally distressed patina throughout, with lighter tobacco tones appearing along the seams and areas of wear. The jacket is built around an exaggerated aviator silhouette, featuring broad structured shoulders, a boxy body and generously cut sleeves that create the powerful proportions associated with Hugo Boss tailoring of the era. A contrasting cream shearling collar softens the heavy leather construction, while the ribbed knit cuffs and waistband give the jacket its classic cropped bomber shape. Oversized flap utility pockets dominate the front, each incorporating separate vertical hand-warmer openings, alongside a full metal zip fastening and intricate panelled construction across the shoulders and sleeves. The rear is kept relatively clean, allowing the wide shoulder line and beautifully aged leather to become the focus. Somewhere between a military flight jacket and an oversized 1980s luxury bomber, it is a particularly characterful example of vintage Hugo Boss outerwear, with the ageing of the leather giving every panel its own depth and variation.

WHY SHOP VINTAGE

EXCEPTIONAL VALUE

Many of the suits and tailoring we source originally retailed for thousands. Vintage gives you access to exceptional designer construction, fabrics and craftsmanship at a fraction of the original price.

QUALITY THAT’S HARD TO FIND TODAY

Older tailoring was often made to a higher standard, with better fabrics, more considered construction and greater attention to finishing. These are garments built before cost-cutting became the norm.

SUPERIOR FABRICS

From luxurious virgin wool and cashmere blends to substantial gabardines and fine worsteds, vintage tailoring often uses fabrics with a weight, texture and handle rarely found at comparable prices today.

THE DRAPE

Great tailoring isn’t meant to cling to the body. The weight and construction of vintage suits allow the fabric to fall naturally, creating cleaner lines, stronger silhouettes and an effortless drape.

A BETTER INVESTMENT

Well-chosen vintage designer tailoring tends to retain its value far better than newly purchased contemporary clothing. Buy intelligently, care for it properly, and a great suit can remain desirable for years.

ICONIC DESIGNERS, BETTER ERAS

Vintage gives you access to defining periods from houses such as Giorgio Armani, Valentino, Yves Saint Laurent and Hugo Boss, often from eras when their tailoring established the visual language they’re still known for today.
