For Sale - Emporio Armani AW1995 Nehru Collar Draped Khaki Taupe Suit.

A beautiful Emporio Armani AW1995 Nehru collar suit, cut in a soft khaki taupe tone that perfectly captures Armani’s mid-1990s language of relaxed elegance. The jacket features a high standing Nehru collar, softly rounded front, tonal buttons, patch pockets and a long, fluid body that sits somewhere between a tailored blazer and a refined tunic jacket. Rather than relying on sharp lapels or heavy structure, the design removes the conventional Western suit collar entirely, giving the piece a cleaner, more architectural line.

This style of Armani suit is especially rare. While vintage Armani tailoring from the 1980s and 1990s is becoming increasingly sought after, most examples found today are classic lapel suits, double-breasted jackets or soft-shouldered business tailoring. A complete Nehru, Mao or mandarin collar suit from Emporio Armani, especially from AW1995, is far harder to come across. It represents one of the more directional sides of Armani’s menswear: minimal, slightly Eastern-inspired, understated, and quietly avant-garde without losing wearability.

The fabric composition, 65% acetate and 35% cotton, gives the suit a very distinctive handle. The acetate adds fluidity, weight and a subtle lustre, allowing the jacket to fall with a liquid-like drape rather than sitting stiffly on the body. The cotton balances this with breathability and a dry, natural texture, creating a fabric that moves beautifully while still holding enough shape through the shoulders, collar and trouser pleats. The result is that signature Armani softness: relaxed but controlled, elegant but never rigid.

The trousers continue the same language, with a high-rise waist, deep front pleats and a wide, easy leg. They create volume without looking oversized, giving the suit that effortless 1990s Armani silhouette: long, loose, soft and quietly luxurious. In the khaki taupe colourway, the piece feels especially refined, sitting between beige, olive and grey depending on the light.

Stylistically, this suit belongs to the same world as Armani’s 1990s experiments with softened tailoring, neutral palettes, collarless jackets and Eastern-influenced menswear. Similar standing-collar Armani pieces appear across later archive and resale references, including Giorgio Armani Mao collar suits and modern Emporio Armani “guru collar” jackets, showing how this shape remained an important recurring code within the house. But finding an original 1995 Emporio Armani two-piece in this cut, colour and fabrication is uncommon, making it a strong archival example rather than a standard vintage suit.
